1회 졸업생인 유왕재 학생의 글을 담았습니다

2009 년 3월 2일, 저는 여섯 명의 후배들과 이곳에 서서 말했습니다. “저는 저의 고등학교 생활을 마무리 하기 위해 헤브론 국제 크리스챤 스쿨에 왔습니다” (헤브론는 그당시 JCIS에 스쿨이름). 그리고 오늘, 2010년 5월 7일, 저의 고등학교 생활을 마치고 새로운 삶을 시작하려 합니다.

저는 무엇보다도 먼저 저의 20명의 후배들에게 졸업식 답사를 할 수 있는 기회를 주신 하나님께 감사 드립니다. 헤브론 크리스챤 스쿨에서의 1년 동안, 저는 엄주수 교장선생님과 김데보라 선생님께 학문적으로나 영적으로 많은 것들을 배울 수 있어서 정말 감사 드립니다. 지난 8월 새벽기도를 가기 시작했을 땐, 저는 김데보라 선생님에 의해 억지로 드렸습니다. 하지만, 하루도 빠짐없이 새벽기도의 제단을 쌓으면서, 저는 완전히 변하게 되었습니다. 저는 기도도 많이 할 수 있었고, 또한 새벽을 깨우는 사람이 되었습니다. 그래서 공부 또한 열심히 할 수 있었습니다. 하나님의 자비로운 축복으로 저는 미국의 명문대 중 하나인 펜실베니아 주립대에 합격 할 수 있게 되었습니다.

특별히 오늘, 저는 후배들에게 바라는 작은 바램 세 가지를 같이 나누었으면 합니다.

첫째, 하나님의 말씀과 친구가 되길 바랍니다. 잠언 9장 10절 말씀에 ‘여호와를 경외하는 것이 지혜의 근본이요 거룩하신 자를 아는 것이 명철이니라’ 저는 후배들에게 매일 성경을 큰소리로 읽고, 매일 아침 성경암송을 게을리 하지 않기를 바랍니다. 만약 성경을 매일 읽는다면, 하나님의 말씀과 함께 영어공부도 할 수 있을 것입니다.

둘째, 다른 사람들이 하기 싫어하는 것을 하고 자신이 대접 받고 싶은 만큼 다른 사람을 위해 봉사하길 바랍니다. 누가 복음 14:11 ‘무릇 자기를 높이는 자는 낮아지고 자기를 낮추는 자는 높아지리라.’ 특별히 민아가 도움이 필요하면 잘 도와주기 바랍니다.

마지막으로, 공부를 열심히 하는 것뿐만 아니라 노는 것에도 열심히 놀았으면 합니다. 헤브론 크리스챤 스쿨의 특별한 점 중의 하나는 어떠한 교칙도 없는 것입니다. 그 의미는 학생들은 항상 자신의 행동에 책임질줄 알아야 합니다. Theodore Roosevelt 는 이런 말을 했습니다. ‘놀 때는 열심히 놀아라. 그리고 일할 때는 절대 놀지 마라’ 반대로 해석하면, ‘일할 때는 열심히 일해라. 그리고 놀 때는 절대 일하지 마라’ 해야 할 일을 모두 끝낸 후엔 미치도록 열심히 놀기를 바랍니다.

이 답사를 준비하면서, 저는 저희 학교의 비전을 찾았습니다. 마태복음 28장 19-20절 말씀, ‘그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 족속으로 제자를 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 주고 내가 너희에게 분부한 모든 것을 가르쳐 지키게 하라 볼 찌어다 내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라 하시니라.’ 비록 저는 졸업을 하면서 한영 크리스챤 스쿨을 떠나지만 헤브론 크리스챤 스쿨에서 배우고 느끼고 경험한 것을 가지고 나아가 다른 사람들에게 하나님을 증거 할 것입니다. 한영 크리스챤 스쿨의 첫 번째 졸업생으로 저는 항상 자부심을 가질 것이고, 후배들과 선생님들 그리고 항상 뒤에서 도와주신 목사님들과 집사님들의 정성과 사랑을 잊지 못할 것입니다. 앞으로도 저를 위해 기도 부탁 드립니다. 감사합니다.
 

On March 2nd, 2009, I was standing here with six young students and said “I came here, Jeju Christian Internaional School (formerly known as Hebron International Christian School), for finishing my high school years” Today, May 7th 2010, it is time to finish my high school years and start new life on new place.

First of all, I thank God for the opportunity to give graduation address to my 20 brothers and sisters in Christ. Spending 1 year at HICS, I thank that I have learned a lot of thing from Mr. Um and Mrs. Um both educationally and spiritually as well. As I started to go dawn prayer worships on last August, I was forced to attend by Mrs. Um. However, as I have continued to attend, I have been changed totally. I could have prayed a lot and become an early bird, so that I could study hard. With God’s gracious blessing, I could be accepted one of the best university in United State, Pennsylvania State University.

Especially today, I want to share with you three things I hope you to do.

First, become a friend with the Bible. Proverbs 9:10 says, ‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.’ I hope you read the Bible aloud daily and do not neglect to do Memory verse every morning. I guarantee that if you read the Bible daily, you can learn English as well as God’s Words.

Second, do what other people do not want to do. Serve others as you want to be served. Luke 14:11 says, ‘For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.’ Particularly, please help Mina.

Lastly, play hard as well as study hard. One of the unique thing HICS has is that the school does not have any school rules. It means that you should be responsible. Theodore Roosevelt said, ‘When you play, play hard; when you work, don’t play at all.’ The opposite meaning of this is that ‘when you work, work hard; when you play, don’t work at all.’ After finishing all your works, be crazy about playing.

As preparing this speech, I have found the vision of our school which is Matthew 28:19-20 ‘Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’ Although I am going to graduate and leave Hebron International Christian School, I think it is one of God’s will for me to testify His name to others with what I have experienced at OSCS. I as a first graduate will be proud of Hebron International Christian School and never forget students, teachers, all pastor and others who support our school and your effort and love.
